Student Reviews
Reviews of Actual Students
-
Student OO Lee (#1)With her extensive experience both teaching and in the illustration industry, the instructor can easily identify any of the students’ problems with their illustrations and offer solutions for any challenge they’re facing. Since she provided personalized explanations even for the smallest detail, I was able to trust and follow her guidance for a long time, which allowed me to quickly improve my skills and start drawing full characters. Since this class is extremely helpful for refining your basic skills, I recommend it to self-taught learners who want to improve their basic skills. -
Student OO Lee (#2)I’ve taken other instructors’ classes as well, but what I loved the most about Macciatto’s class was that she respects the art styles of her students. Instructors at most academies simply use variations of their own art styles for their classes without changing or altering them much. Macciatto, however, understands what kind of style students want to do and shows them how to do that, which really resonated with me. Since she theorizes and studies human anatomy, she is able to provide more in-depth explanations than books or YouTube tutorials do, and I found that extremely helpful. -
Student OO OhI found this class especially beneficial in that I could improve my skills without deviating from the art style I wanted. The instructor also helped me find solutions to my struggles, which was the most impressive and helpful part for me. That’s why I took her class for such a long time. She not only makes it easy to understand theory but also shows you how to draw more easily. I usually put more effort into drawing than coloring, so this helped me spend less time thinking about things and quickly improve my skills instead.

Student OO Kim (#1)Before taking Macciatto’s class, I felt a bit disappointed in the teaching method of the class I had previously taken, so I didn’t have much expectation for her class either. However, when I talked to her and took the first lecture, I immediately knew that I finally found the curriculum I wanted, even though I had not taken that many classes before. I used to draw by simply relying on my instinct and didn’t put much thought into it, but since taking Macciatto’s class, I feel like my art now has a direction and purpose. I learn something new in every lecture—not just about drawing, but also other essential things for an artist, such as how to manage stress and daily routines. -
Student OO ChoUnlike many other instructors who simply tell you to draw like this and like that, Macciatto provides detailed guidance on why you need to draw in that specific way, as well as what you need to improve to reach your goals in the future. I felt that she was helping me master the entire process of creating the illustration I wanted, rather than just teaching coloring techniques or putting on the finishing touches. -
Student OO Kim (#2)I’ve always struggled with studying theory because I find it boring and difficult to memorize a large amount of information at once. After taking Macciatto’s class, however, theory became more enjoyable to me. She always kept the class content at a manageable amount and gave examples that made it easy to understand. After class, she’d check our work and help us understand what we got wrong or needed to improve, which allowed me to memorize the key points without even trying. If you’re struggling with theories like I used to, I highly recommend this class!
Macciatto
Illustrator
Hello, my name is Macciatto, and I’ve been a freelance illustrator for over ten years. Instead of staying in one genre, I’ve explored various areas where anime-style illustrations can be applied, such as games, animations, webtoons, VTubers, and other collaborative projects.
Five years ago, I started teaching drawing based on my field experience and expertise to help aspiring illustrators develop their skills.
I now run a YouTube channel, studio, and academy to teach illustration and achieve that goal.
I designed this class as a fundamental, hands-on guide focused on the challenges learners face, as observed through teaching numerous students over the years. My hope is that it helps many aspiring and professional artists improve their skills.
