Student Reviews of Doko’s Class

Student AI am currently in the 16th week of Doko's class, which is also my 16th week of ever holding a pen to draw. At first, I did not even know how to draw a face, so my first lesson started with simplifying photo references into basic shapes, and now I have come this far. My skills were shaky and inconsistent, and my line work would often fall apart. There were many times I felt like I was going backward, but each time, the teacher guided me and helped me move forward. The class is structured so that the teacher studies each student's style, then gives individual feedback on practice methods and croquis techniques, along with small bits of theory and helpful tips throughout. That really stayed with me. Choosing to wait and take my very first drawing class with Doko has been one of the best decisions I have made, and I think that every week.

Student BDoko's class identified exactly where a student is lacking and provides different solutions to resolve each blocked area one by one. For someone like me, who struggles with perfectionism and ends up making stiff drawings, this has been incredibly helpful. The teacher is truly skilled in every aspect of drawing, including anatomy, backgrounds, illustration composition, and comic storytelling. With that skill, he helps transform students' drawings into something more appealing and convincing, and his sincere feedback helps restore confidence. While taking this class, I felt my rigid and constrained drawing habits begin to relax and open up.

Student CThrough Doko’s class, my structural understanding of drawing and my expressive ability have improved significantly. I was initially used to a cute, stylized drawing style, but the lessons taught me how to gradually shift toward a more realistic illustrative style. The exercises in analyzing facial proportions and forms, along with weekly assignments in croquis and face variation studies, helped my line stability and sense of form improve clearly. The instructor guided my direction carefully and pointed out my weaknesses precisely, allowing me to learn many things that would have been difficult to recognize on my own. Thanks to this class, my confidence in drawing has grown, and I now have a clearer sense of where I want to go next.
