Hi, I'm illustrator Jida. Although drawing is such a fun thing, there comes a point where you face barriers to growth. I, too, have been through the same challenge, which led me to open a class that helps overcome that obstacle.
In this class, I'll help you master basic skills, and share every bit of my stylization know-how by drawing upon my experience in various genres, including realistic and anime styles, cover illustrations and comics. Jida, however, taught me that faces need to be drawn with a certain structure and standard, which fundamentally changed how I view faces. What do you consider your strengths when you work?
Instead of limiting myself to certain methodologies, I try to keep experimenting with things. Creating art, you are likely to develop mannerisms that make you feel obliged to do certain things in certain ways, which hinders growth and flexible thinking. That's why I try to provide various inputs for myself by trying both the textbook approach as well as something new that I feel like trying, while also maintaining a stable process.

How are your unique strengths incorporated into the class curriculum?
The foremost key to recreating an object as a drawing is to understand the basic shapes that constitute it. That said, I believe being able to draw 3D shapes and designing captivating characters concern different realms. In this class, I'll introduce you to character design that involves both solid basic skills and artistic senses, as well as my unique processes and approaches to achieve that.

What are the purpose and unique qualities of this class?
It's not an exaggeration to say that a character's face determines how it looks. In this class, you'll learn in depth the basics of facial features that guarantee quality regardless of art style, whether it is realistic, semi-realistic or anime-style, through a range of drawing demonstrations.

Do you have any advice for learners and rookie creators?
I think that no matter who you are, there comes a point where drawing doesn't feel just fun. Learning the basics can be boring and may feel like a long process. However, regardless of genre, you can't learn a style or a technique without understanding the basics, because they are like a formula or grammar. I sincerely hope that this class leads you to gradually rediscover the joy of drawing and gain confidence in your art.
