Illustrator
Hi, I'm Yue! Inspired by many creators and artists before me, I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue art in some shape or form. I created art for my own enjoyment and started sharing it online when I was 7 years old. My love for art only grew since and years later I left school to become a freelance illustrator.
I've come to realise there are many other people out there like me and I felt that this would be a good opportunity to share my experiences from discovering my own path to both becoming a greater artist and being able to make a living. After all, the reason I stopped studying towards a degree was because I felt there were no relevant courses available to me teaching what I wanted to know. In this class, I hope to impart to you, both my knowledge and my love for illustration.

Interview with
Illustrator Yue
Is there a specific reason why you chose this specific topic/themes?
I feel that being able to design your own original character is an important skill because it helps with distinguishing your own brand as an artist along with developing your creative thinking. My own specialisation lies in illustration so of course I would want to include my strengths. Finally, freelance illustration is a relatively niche career even in the realm of art. However, I know that there are many out there who also wish to pursue this career and I believe that there are advice and insights which I can provide to help you.
What makes your class different from other classes?
Nowadays there are a lot of people who want to learn how to draw in an anime style and also how to make that their career. This often feels like uncharted territory because there are no conventional steps to follow. Digital art itself is a relatively recent phenomenon. In this constantly changing environment, this class will embody my experiences and teach students how to adapt and carve their own path forward by taking advantage of all the modern resources and tools at hand.
What do you think is the most important trait(s) to success in your industry?
I think perseverance and taste are really important. Art is really rewarding because the improvement is so tangible but it's a slow process and you have to fight through many feelings of inadequacy along the way. Having good taste matters in that it will allow you to create things that resonate and connect with more people, which is highly desirable in the industry and incredibly helpful as a freelancer.
