Illustrator
Heiro
Hi, I'm Illustrator Heiro. After graduating from college, I began working as a freelance illustrator, having begun my career as an illustrator in high school. My primary focus is character design for card games, Vtubers, light novels, and social network games. I've also created graphics for existing characters and have worked on character design as part of my profession.
Like any project, the client provides certain ideas and materials to some extent. However, I actually do the character design and illustration myself. I wish to impart my character design expertise and approaches to others who aspire to work in the illustration profession in the future, as many positions in the field demand these kinds of abilities. I hope that creating an artwork of a character you've created can provide you the same pleasure and happiness, not just for profit.

Interview with
Illustrator Heiro
This class explains everything from how to come up with ideas for character design to the techniques needed to complete the process. To make it easy for beginners to learn, I teach a wide range of techniques. I give a brief explanation of human anatomy, show how a different contour can give a different impression, discuss painting different textures, and go over how to design weapons. We cover everything from the initial design to completion.
I was completely self-taught when I started drawing, so I drew without understanding fundamental concepts like the human figure, lighting, and composition. Because of that, I struggled with quality in general. After I learned about these things later, the quality of my illustrations improved. I then got into the habit of researching and drawing all sorts of things. In addition to characters, I became able to draw weapons and mechanical equipment.
As the animation and game markets expand, there’s also a growing demand for illustrators. However, simultaneously, the number of illustrators themselves is increasing rapidly, resulting in excess talent and intense competition. Because of this, it’s important not to just have simple drawing skills, but also individuality and the ability to self-produce. Whether you become an illustrator for a company or a freelance illustrator, you will need to have your own style and content unique to you.
Though it takes time to improve your illustration skills, with proper study methods and materials, you can control the speed at which you improve. I would also recommend that those who don’t have much time to draw get into the habit of drawing while doing research. The other important thing is to have fun. If you can draw the things you like while seeing daily progress, you’ll be at a much higher level before you realize it.
