interview
What package designer AURG wants to say
What is the outlook for the package design field?
The package that can be seen, touched, and felt is the part that is closest to the consumer. Therefore, package design plays an important role in determining the brand image. Additionally, even if it is the same product, the consumer's experience and impression of the product can vary depending on how it is packaged. For this reason, many companies are trying to innovate package design to provide a better consumer experience and clearly communicate brand identity. As the needs of companies for package design are becoming clearer, I believe that this is a field of the design industry that can grow steadily and gradually.
What are the main points in package design?
One of the most important points in package design is consideration of ‘consumer experience’. Package design starts from “what emotion you want to convey to consumers.” Everything, including packaging method and material, is determined depending on the emotion and experience you want to convey to consumers. Therefore, in this class, we plan to set up a virtual client and deliver in detail, using AURG's unique practical know-how, how to deliver the experience to consumers and how to design a package to achieve this.
What do you think are the most necessary qualities for a graphic designer?
I think ‘attitude toward graphic design’ is the most important. Since designers are not artists, they must create results that meet the planning intent through objective analysis rather than their own preferences. Therefore , you must always look at your work objectively and revise it to meet the planning intent. As I have observed over a long period of time, designers with the ability to ‘patiently think and achieve perfection’ have grown. If this part is lacking, there is a high chance of producing inadequate results no matter how excellent your skills are.
Who do you recommend this class to?
It is recommended for those who only know how to use tools but have difficulty completing work, and those who want to archive a portfolio with high-quality work. Those who only know how to use tools can experience package design through hands-on training. Additionally, if you want to archive a portfolio with high-quality work, you can learn everything from know-how to improve completeness to portfolio archiving know-how.
