I'm Wandah.

Hello everyone! My name is Wandah Kurniawan, and I’m currently an Art Director at Prime 1 Studio Japan, where I have the privilege of bringing characters to life through high-end collectible figures and statues. Over the years, I’ve worked across a wide range of styles, from realistic and hard-surface designs to cartoony and anime aesthetics. Before joining Prime 1 Studio, I spent time in a AAA video game company, but today my passion lies in the world of collectibles, especially statues and anime figures. I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to projects featuring beloved characters from DC, Square Enix, Capcom, and many others.

In this class, my mission is simple: to help you elevate your sculpting techniques and unlock your full creative potential. With more than 15 years of industry experience, I’m excited to guide you step by step as we design and sculpt an original character from scratch, starting from the concept we develop together.

Through my Coloso Global Signature classes, I sincerely hope to teach and inspire as many people as possible, offering you not only practical skills but a truly enjoyable and enriching learning experience. I’m thrilled to have you here, and I can’t wait to start this creative journey with you.

What inspired you to create your Signature Series?

I wanted to create a series that truly reflects the core of my artistic approach. Over time, I’ve refined a style and workflow that feel uniquely mine, and I felt it was the right moment to share them in a more complete, structured way.
This Signature Series is inspired by the idea of giving students not only my techniques, but also a deeper look into how I think, how I make decisions, and how I approach creative challenges.

How is the Signature Series different from your previous class?

My previous class focused more on the practical steps such as how to sculpt, how to set up materials, and how to handle specific tools.
This Signature Series goes further. It’s more comprehensive and personal: I walk through the artistic reasoning, the design philosophy, and the small but important choices that define my work.
Rather than just showing the “how,” I’m sharing the “why,” so students can apply the insights to any project and develop a stronger artistic identity of their own.

Is there anything you’d like to say to the students of your Signature Series?

I created this series with the hope that it can guide you not only technically, but also creatively helping you see your work from a broader, more confident perspective.
