Xuan
Dear all,
Thank you for checking out my Coloso class! I'm Xuan, or Xuanllli, as per my social media handles. I'm known for my use of popping colors and sharp character features. Drawing has been my passion since I was young! As I started to take art seriously, I discovered the importance of original art, which is a representation of yourself to the public, essentially, your brand. Original art is a way for you to stand out from the crowd, and you don't need to be exceptionally skilled to create unique original characters. Through my studies in Chinese Studies, I have built extensive knowledge of Chinese culture and used this knowledge to improve the themes and ideas of my character design and illustration.
In this class, we'll explore ways to build your own brand, specifically through cultural inspirations and discovering what you like the most. By the end of the class, I hope everyone can discover what is truly important about yourselves.

Class Highlights
Using Cultural Influences
Cultural aesthetics often have unique visual elements, colors, patterns, and symbols from which you can draw inspiration from. Learn how you can incorporate cultural elements to create wonderful storytelling illustrations.
Utilizing References
References are a good way to improve the quality and accuracy of your work. But there are times when we struggle with the complexity of references. Here, we'll learn how to simplify real-life references: anatomy, folds, animals, and more.
Adding Contrast
Not everything is about having a detailed illustration. You can create an eye-catching illustration with good contrast, be it color contrast, value contrast, or detail contrast. We'll explore the different ways of applying contrast to an illustration.
