Kota Kato's Profile & Portfolio
Kota Kato
Anatomy Artist
Hello, I'm an Anatomy Artist, Kota Kato.
I use the drawing skills that
I learned at the Art University
and the knowledge I acquried working
in the field of anatomy
to teach various artists about art anatomy.
Artistic anatomy is a useful discipline
for any artist
who wants to express
the human body.
Therefore, aside from
giving lectures at the university,
I also give lectures to animators,
manga artists, 3D modelers, game creators,
and many more.
Artistic anatomy takes time to master,
but once you know it all,
it should be easier to explore whats next.
If you take time to learn
the shapes
and arrangements of bones & muscles
and handle them freely,
you'll be able to easily notice
the discomfort of your work.
This class will teach you everything
about artistic anatomy
based on knowledge of art and medicine,
and allow you to easily
acquire the skills to apply to
your own work production
by practicing with the class materials provided.
Thank you!

Interview
with Kota Kato

What do you find most difficult for those who are studying in that field, and how can you solve that point through this class?
Many beginners may think that they don't know where to learn anatomy. It's not difficult if you learn from the basics one by one. Even if you don't know it at first, you will be able to understand it by comparing similar structures. Experienced people can supplement the uneven knowledge that is biased by self-education. By self-study, you can study what you like well, but you cannot study or study what you are not good at. By taking a comprehensive class, it will be easier to get the knowledge of the parts that you were not good at.
What kind of efforts have you made to solve the difficult parts of your studies?
It is often difficult to remember the anatomical structure at once. If you memorize it in a short period, it's easy to forget it. But if you take the time to study or get into the habit of investigating, your knowledge will increase steadily. You can help establish your memory using the five senses other than vision and you can also enhance the learning effect if you not only look at it with your eyes but also move your hands, read it aloud, or check it while touching your body.
How can students use the class materials provided with the class?
First, with the perks shared, I would like you to draw it in the same way while watching the class video. Let's study while moving your hands as well as watching. Once you practice drawing, you will be able to arrange and practice in your way from now on.
What are your thoughts about marketability and prospects in the illustration field?
A wide variety of expressions require the human body, such as illustrations, manga, animation, and CG. Anatomical knowledge is a compilation of facts that anyone can observe to use regardless of fashion, expression, or style. The more knowledge you have, the more you will be able to understand the undulations of the human body, and the more you will be able to express it in your work.
