Why Take This Class?
What sets apart professionals from beginners?
Professionals, through their long and hard-fought journeys, have established their own logical frameworks that streamline their creation processes. This solid foundation allows them to explore and experiment with a lot of different techniques and styles, leading to continuous growth and development.
Beginners, on the other hand, are ready to absorb all of the information and knowledge to fuel their growth. While the journey of trial and error is essential, it can also be tedious and disheartening at times. With the right guidance, however, beginners can focus on the vital skills needed to establish their own foundations, ultimately helping them discover their unique voice in an increasingly saturated industry.
Your instructor deme was once a beginner too, not knowing which information was going to help her grow, and which she needed to discard to move forward. Drawing from her own experiences, she has hand-picked the topics and skill sets for this class to ensure you focus on what truly matters, empowering you to grow steadily and confidently until you reach your goal.

Hello and welcome! I'm deme, a freelance illustrator with 7 years of experience, and I'm thrilled to introduce you to my first online illustration course.
My journey as an illustrator has taught me that growth is a collaborative process. While I once believed solo practice was enough, working professionally opened my eyes to the immense value of learning from others in our field.
I'm not what you'd call a 'natural talent'. Many of the skills I use today were learned through dedicated study and consistent practice. This experience has shaped my teaching approach — I understand the learning curve and the effort required to improve.
Over the years, I've stood on the shoulders of giants, learning invaluable knowledge and skills from the masters who came before me. Now, I'm excited to pass that knowledge on to you. In this course, I’ll share everything I’ve learned, along with my own personal take on things that just might give you some new insights.
I hope you'll join me on this journey, and together, we can take your illustration skills to the next level!

Interview with
Illustrator deme
The topics and themes I've chosen for this course stem from knowledge and concepts I wish I had known a decade ago. These insights could have saved me from unnecessary detours in my career. In today's rapidly evolving landscape of trends and technology, this information is more crucial than ever. It's easy to feel overwhelmed when we're constantly exposed to stunning illustrations online. That's why I believe it's vital to understand what truly matters in our craft — principles that have remained constant for hundreds of years. This course aims to provide that timeless foundation, helping you navigate the contemporary art world with confidence and clarity.
What sets this class apart is its focus on timeless wisdom that masters have been applying for centuries. Despite our fast-changing world, these fundamental principles remain incredibly relevant. By emphasizing these enduring concepts, this course will help you feel more grounded and less anxious about keeping up with fleeting trends. Additionally, my personal journey — starting as someone once described as 'without color sense' to becoming a professional illustrator — serves as living proof that special innate talent isn't a prerequisite for success in this field. This course is designed to nurture your skills, regardless of your starting point.
In my experience, there are three key traits crucial for success in the illustration industry: First, self-discipline. This is essential for creating and adhering to your own study plans and ensuring you progress on schedule with client work. Second, a growth mindset. Believing in your ability to change and improve motivates continuous learning throughout your career, which is vital for longevity in this industry. Lastly, strong communication skills. These are crucial not only for understanding clients' true needs, especially when they struggle to articulate them, but also for effective self-promotion on social media platforms. These traits, when combined, form a solid foundation for a successful and fulfilling career in illustration.
