Why Take This Class?
Many classes teach you the fundamentals, but this one shows you how to make those elements work together to create something more: a scene that tells a story, captures a mood, and feels alive.
This course focuses on cohesion: how environment supports narrative, how light reveals emotion, and how subtle choices in composition or expression shape the viewer’s experience. You’ll strengthen your technical foundation while learning to apply it with intention and storytelling in mind.
What makes this class unique is its focus on reflection. With your instructor, you’ll revisit your older work and see how applying these principles can turn “bad” art into a valuable learning experience. It's a chance to recognize your artistic habits and grow through your own creative history.
Create illustrations that feel complete—draw with depth, design with purpose, and tell stories that stay with your audience.

C
Hello, you can call me C! I'm a full-time freelance artist who mainly focuses on derivative works, sequential art, environmental storytelling, and a dash of occasional character design. I hold a master’s degree in design, with both my undergraduate final project and my master’s thesis centered around comics and sequential art. I've been building my freelance career since 2019, and I also have a passion for teaching all things illustration-related.
I have a personal Tumblr blog I often used to answer questions and share art tips and tutorials back in the day, and judging from the positive feedback those art tutorials got and the amount of inquiries flooding my inbox regarding art-related questions, it seemed that people found them genuinely helpful, and it gladdened me everytime!
I have a boundless love for drawing and strive to improve every day. I've picked up a lot of knowledge throughout my artistic journey and I'm excited to pass it along to others!

Interview with
Illustrator, C
Visual storytelling is a branch of art/design that requires thorough explanations since it's more than just pretty pictures; there's writing and designing at play in it, where every element interweaves with one another to create an engaging story through a single picture.
Great ideas transcend time; no matter how cheap or obsolete your tools are, there's no need to be discouraged if you only have free or cheap drawing programs because they won't hinder you from creating great pieces. But also, having a brilliant artistic vision won't be a determining factor if you choose to shut your ears to constructive criticism.
When I first started my art journey (I was still a high-schooler at the time), I had to keep deleting and remaking my first art blog over and over because my art posts kept getting less than 10 likes and it embarrassed and discouraged me, until I gave up and just uploaded whatever I drew to fill my blog gallery. The time I spent drawing characters I liked and uploading my works eventually bore its fruit, my art gradually got better, I started to gain audiences, and I can draw my favorite characters doing whatever I want them to do too. Had I ever stopped drawing because of this, I think I would never get to where I am now.
