Question.01

What do you think are your strengths in your usual creative workflow?

Instead of just complaining about my flaws, I analyze what I wanted to create and the reason I couldn’t achieve it. I’m not a genius, nor was I born with an amazing artistic sense. Honestly, I don’t even have extraordinary skills or aesthetics. Still, I have a strong passion for exploring and learning, which I think is why I could survive in the illustration industry. While there’s no doubt that illustrations require good sense and aesthetics, I think the more important thing is to stick it out ‘til the end and keep moving forward, which is why I don’t stop working hard. Although my journey was always full of challenges, I now feel grateful for that because those failures taught me the shortcuts that I now want to share with all of you.

How are your unique strengths incorporated into the curriculum of this class?

As romantic as it sounds to keep creating what you love, making money with your illustrations is an entirely different story, since you can’t make money if nobody wants to buy your work. This, unfortunately, means you can’t always draw what you love to draw. In this class, you’ll first identify clients’ needs so you can find people who want to commission your illustrations more quickly. You’ll also learn what you should research and study to satisfy clients’ needs. Since creating illustrations is not just about learning theory but also about accumulating your own data through continuous practice, I designed this class to cover both understanding clients’ needs and upgrading your skills to satisfy them.

What is the main purpose behind this course, and what sets it apart from others?

This class puts a focus on the subject of monetization. Even if you upgrade your skills and improve your portfolio, it will take a long time to achieve your goal without defining how exactly you want to sell your work to the audience. Likewise, when teaching illustration classes, many learners ask me how they should sell their art and which parts of it should be the selling points. Before selling your art, you must understand the buyer’s position so you can clarify what and how you should sell. I designed this class to help you plan the steps to selling your art on your own by applying the skills you’ve learned.
