Hello, I’m MiuA (also known as Miu Akatsuki or Akira Yoru), an independent freelance artist specializing in illustration, animation, and merchandise creation.
I’m best known for animating my own illustrations using After Effects (AE). Many people often mistake my 2D animations for 3D and ask where I learned it. The truth is, I developed my own unique style using basic AE knowledge that can easliy be acquired from free, common sources. In this course, I’ll reveal the secret to creating the illusion of 3D effects in 2D animations.
As an illustrator, I understand the curiosity of wanting to see our artwork come to life through movement. Here I am, working to bring that idea to reality. Each project has been a learning experience for me, and I’m excited to share years of knowledge so you can explore AE’s endless possibilities, using only basic tools and no plugins required.

MiuA's course is perfect for those who are just starting out in animation! I've been following her work for a long time and was so excited to learn how she does animation. At first, I just wanted to know how her process works, but when I finished the course, I was able to start from the beginning with the basic concepts of animation. She started by teaching us the principles of drawing pieces before starting to animate them, and then the basic principles of animation before gradually moving on to advanced animation. And because she taught and explained everything in detail, it made the whole course very easy to understand! I believe that even people who have never taken this program before can definitely do it.

MiuA does an incredible job of teaching students all those scattered After Effects tutorials found online into a series of short, easy to follow lessons. It saved me so much time that I would’ve spent searching and piecing things together myself. What I especially appreciated is that MiuA doesn’t just show polished workflows, if you watch the class while you follow the step by step, one video at a time like i did, you will see that MiuA encounter small mistakes or glitch, and so is your own project, therefore you'll know how to fix them, something that not all after effect tutorial covers. Is there a specific reason why you chose this specific topic/themes?
There are two comments I see most often whenever I post my animations on social media: "How do you animate?" and "Can you make a tutorial?"

What makes your class different from other classes?
Here are some of my considerations: Firstly, as both an illustrator and animator, I create animations entirely from my own illustrations, starting from sketches. This approach to asset preparation distinguishes my process from animators who solely focus on animation.
Second, I use After Effects (AE) instead of Live2D, which is more commonly used for anime-style tweening. AE’s capabilities fascinated me, so I decided to experiment deeper with it. In this course, I’ll show what AE is uniquely capable of doing in tweening-style animations.
Third, my focus isn’t just on movement. I try to add illusions of depth and dimension to my animation, achieving 3D-like effects with 2D assets.
Lastly, I don’t use AE plugins in my work. While plugins can be helpful, I aim to fully maximize AE’s built-in tools, which are already incredibly powerful. But of course, if you prefer, you’re welcome to use plugins when practicing lessons from my class!

Is there anything else you would like to share with your students?
I want to emphasize that my technique may not be suitable for everyone. The way I work is not fixed or the most definitive method, as I am still (and will always be) learning myself. The main purpose of this class is to show you how I have worked all this time, but you don't need to do exactly the same. There may be mistakes, or someone might find a more efficient approach than mine, and that’s completely understandable.
As we know, every artist has a different art style. By the end of this class, I hope you can adapt the knowledge you’ve gained to better suit your personal taste and discover your own unique technique.
