Yvo Toro
Hi, I'm Yvo! I've been drawing ever since I can remember. Whether it came in the form of a coloring book or sketching mindlessly in the paper margins of my high school tests, pouring myself into art has remained a constant need throughout my life. I find nothing more exciting than creating characters and giving them life.
I've been lucky enough to pursue drawing as a freelance illustrator, and I want to give back to the same community that inspires me. If the knowledge I obtained over the years could help even one person pick up a pencil or instill some motivation, that would be enough for me!

Interview with
Illustrator, Yvo Toro
While rendering is nothing new, I'd like to think the development of my technique over the course of 8 years could help someone discover their own personal touch. For that, I combine eye-straining colors and a crosshatching style that will surely bring emphasis to your piece. I hope my class can help build on your attention to detail and develop an eye for solid color pairings.
The start of my journey may seem very similar to many of you: I was on social media and came across many beautiful artworks that moved me from the heart. Watching artists create compelling stories with their original characters sparked a flame inside me that had been dormant for a while. As a child, I used to create comics myself, and seeing people my age still creating their own inspired me enough to want to pursue it.
Entering the art industry can be intimidating, like anything else. It's constantly growing and changing, but there are substantially more job opportunities for artists than ever before. Whatever field or job you're pursuing, keeping that spark and passion going is essential. Ask those self-identifying questions: what mediums am I passionate about? What story do I want to tell? What skills have come naturally to me, and what could I work on? From there, you can begin pinpointing what job or career aligns with you. There doesn't have to be only one path! Try everything. It's good to have various skills under your belt, and you will be surprised at how good you are at something you'd never imagined doing.
