Why Take This Class?
You need to know what muscles and joints exist so that you can know where the wrists and ankles should move most naturally when doing actual animation, and through anatomy, you can express the character's most beautiful form, volume, and rhythm in a rich way. The results are also much more attractive.
Therefore, in order to work on stable 3D characters, the key is to solidify the anatomy based on the human body, rather than only focusing on the exterior!
In the 3D anatomy class prepared by Coloso, we have prepared to lay the foundation for high-quality 3D character work through various character study classes, starting with human anatomy.
‘3D Anatomy’, the basic core of 3D characters selected by practitioners, start now at Coloso.
We learn step-by-step through the basics of anatomy and various studies.

3D Character Artist
Kyoungsoo Kim
Hello, this is 3D character artist Kyoungsoo Kim.
I work at Blur Studio and have been working on various collaborations with global companies such as Riot Games, Netflix, and Marvel.
When I work, I try to create a realistic model by maximizing the character's human body characteristics without missing any detail.
In the end, the tool's capabilities are limited and the people who see the actual results are ordinary people, so I want to create a character that they will be familiar with and that they can sit next to.
In order to do such work, I think it is most important to grasp basic concepts such as 'anatomy', so in this class, even those who are new to anatomy will be able to easily access basic concepts and obtain application results such as stylized characters and creatures. Ready.

Class Highlights
How to master the Zbrush tool for those who are new to sculpting
The Zbrush tool, which many people find difficult to operate, is different from existing 3D tools! After this class, we will teach you step-by-step, from understanding the interface to detailed brush usage, so that you can move up to a level where you can practice right away.
*For smooth sculpting work, please prepare a tablet.
Stable representation of the human body using anatomy
Through the basics of anatomy, you will learn how to create attractive results through the character's most beautiful shape, volume, and rhythmic expression, and pick up detailed human anatomy points to create an effective sense of form without overdoing the muscle expression that can easily be overdone.
Enhancing ‘eyes to see’ based on anatomy
Once you have mastered the eye you need to have as an artist, the bad habit of only seeing small things and delving into the details of those small parts will disappear and you will begin to see the big picture. We will teach you so that you can focus your eyes more on expressing the overall rhythm and beauty of the movement.

You'll Learn
-
Proportions and Proportions of the Human BodyStarting with learning about human body proportions and proportions, which are the basis of character, we learn detailed human body points such as face, upper body, lower body, hands, and feet. -
Sculpting using the flow of muscles and bonesIn the sculpting stage, you will learn how to sculpt the natural human body by utilizing the flow of the body's muscles and bones to create life-like characters. -
How to express the face correctly according to the location of the bonesLearn about shapes that are expressed differently depending on the location of the bones in the face, and learn how to express the sense of shape based on the location of the bones.
-
How to express your impression through facial muscles and wrinklesLearn about the differences in facial flow depending on muscles and wrinkles even in the same human body, and learn how to create diverse human impressions through detailed facial expressions. -
Zbrush alphamap and texturing xyzInstead of manual work that requires creating pores one by one, we will teach you about texturing skills that can shorten the work time and achieve more realistic results by using the actual pore alpha source. -
Various character studiesYou can learn about various character expression methods through stylized characters and attractive creature case studies based on realistic anatomy, which goes beyond simply human characters.

Interview with
3D character artist Kyoungsoo Kim
Which students is this course suitable for?
I think this would be good for those who want to get into 3D character modeling or those who want to master the basic concepts of anatomy through Zbrush. I think this is an opportunity to master both tool-related basics and anatomy concepts at once.
How does anatomy affect 3D characters?
If you compare a model based on anatomy with a model based on details, you end up with a useless building that only pays attention to the exterior, as if you only paid attention to the exterior wall materials, interior props, furniture, and wallpaper without doing the basic construction. In other words, I believe that only when anatomy is included in character work can the character have the most beautiful sense of form, volume, and rhythm, resulting in an attractive result.
Why do character studies and what are the advantages?
Just like athletes build muscles, if you study consistently, the knowledge will slowly be engraved into your body. In this way, characters can be expressed more freely and attractive results are produced. Like this, I think that if you learn the character study content in class and continue it consistently, rather than just doing it as a one-time thing, there will definitely be a difference in the results.
What is the point of the lecture that you want students to take away from this?
People who begin human sculpting or character design often consider anatomy to be important, but easily overlook it. However, in order to design stable characters, I think anatomy is an essential part, not an option. So, I prepared this class with the hope that you would learn anatomy easily and learn the characteristics of each part of the human body in detail.
