Hello, I’m minusT, a 3D animator. Currently, I work as a YouTuber creating videos focused on subculture characters using Blender. While Blender is an excellent tool for beginners in 3D, resources related to subculture animation are still quite limited. With over 16 years of self-taught 3D experience, I’m here to share all the essential Blender basics with you.
This class is designed for those who are new to Blender character modeling. If you’ve ever struggled to follow along with good tutorials because 3D character modeling felt overwhelming, this course will help you build a strong foundation through hands-on SD modeling practice. Join me to learn natural training methods and start your journey into 3D character modeling with confidence.
What do you think is the most difficult part of creating SD characters in Blender?
For many people making a character in Blender for the first time, the hardest part is not knowing how to approach the modeling process. However, once you gain experience, recreating objects you’ve already built becomes much easier. This second signature class is designed to help you learn effective modeling approaches while enjoying the process of creating SD characters.
What was the key focus when designing the curriculum for this course?
I wanted to design the class as one filled with skills that can be applied in many different situations. The curriculum is built around practical examples, allowing students to model SD characters in a variety of designs and create hairstyles and outfits with different structures.
Who would you recommend this course to?
This course is designed for those who are just getting started with Blender and want to dive into character modeling. It’s especially recommended for beginners who would like to create their own characters - particularly cute SD characters. I hope the various examples included in the class will help students build and customize their own unique characters.

Key Points for Cute SD Character Modeling
The core of natural character modeling! Learn the proper proportions of SD characters and understand the exaggerated and distorted features of deformed styles. Before moving on to complex character forms, build a solid foundation in character modeling with the simple structure of SD characters
Introduction to SD Body Modeling for Character Sense
Build your sense for humanoid character modeling by creating the head, body, arms, and legs in SD form. Through the simplified deformations of SD characters, you’ll learn to handle the basic shapes and proportions of the human body and understand the core mechanisms behind humanoid character creation.
High Usability! 4 Female Character Hairstyle Models
Practice hairstyle modeling to express your own unique style! Using polygons, create long hair, a bob cut, wavy hair, and twin-tails. Through these four different hairstyles, you’ll learn to customize and style your character just the way you want.
4 Outfit Modeling Approaches by Shape
Create a variety of outfit objects for different styles! Practice making clothing often used in character design - such as sportswear, skirts, pants, school uniforms, hoodies, and dresses. Through these projects, you’ll learn modeling methods for different outfit shapes and style your own unique character.
Blender Rigging Basics for Character Posing
Learn the rigging process to bring your character into a variety of poses. Add bones to your model and set up weights for both the body and outfits. Then, apply simple IK to the arms and legs to master the essential first steps of rigging for 3D character posing.
Shading & Texturing Skills to Add Detail to Your Models
Enhance your models with realistic detail through shading and texturing! Learn how to apply toon shaders and outlines, understand UV unwrapping and texture painting, and create character models with more vivid and expressive visuals.
